Andrew Monaghan joined Scottish Development International’s (SDI) Energy team in 2008. His current role is Africa Regional Manager, and he has been based in Accra, Ghana since 2017. His remit includes geographic responsibility for sub-Saharan Africa for SDI. Due to resource limitations and demand profile between Scotland and Africa, this has featured a concentration on increasing exports from Scotland’s oil & gas services sector to selected markets in the region as well as establishing education and training links between African and Scottish institutions.
Andrew’s career was, until joining SDI, in the private sector and mainly in the petroleum retailing and bulk fuelling industries. This included working with small to medium enterprises in addition to giants such as Unisys and Fujitsu. Work experience has included general, export sales and channel management, as well as Consultancy.
In 1993, Andrew moved to Cape Town, South Africa where he lived and worked until returning to Scotland in 2003. During this period, in addition to raising a family, he travelled and worked extensively throughout the sub-Saharan Africa region.
