Ben Oudman

Director & Regional Manager DNV GL

Ben Oudman joined DNV GL Oil & Gas in 2013 after having held previous (senior) management positions with Philips Electronics among others. Innovation has been the common theme throughout his career, holding management positions in various Research & Technology Development, Product Development and Quality functions as well as establishing Business Units or turning around ailing ones. Ben holds a MSc degree in Mechanical Engineer from Delft University of Technology. In his current role as Regional Manager for Continental Europe, Middle East, India and Africa, Ben’s focus is to grow DNV GL’s market share in this region across Up, Mid- and Downstream Oil & Gas segments and to bring to market digital innovations to support DNV GL’s existing suite of technical assurance and advisory services. The Global Energy Transition subject has his strong personal and professional interest, in large part due to heading DNV GL’s Gas Consultancy & Services unit for 4 years.

  • DNV GL has published updated research on its forecasts for the energy transition as the world’s energy supply sources and global demand change over the next 30 years. 
  • This talk will introduce the themes arising from the forecast and focus on the global expectations for decarbonisation of the energy markets, the need for greater efficiency (supported by digitalisation) to maintain energy affordability while acknowledging the competitive yet also complementary nature of the burgeoning renewables sector that can disrupt the upstream sector. 
  • Despite the forecast of substantial change, nevertheless Gas has a key role to play in the decarbonisation of future energy markets, while ‘new’ options such as Hydrogen develop their market solutions. 
  • DNV GL will discuss the topics with supporting data from our Industry Outlook survey and Technology Outlook report. Example projects in Europe and Africa will be highlighted.
