Helen Brume is a Deputy General Manager (DGM) and Group Head, Oil and Gas for Union Bank Nigeria Plc where she is responsible for the Origination, Structuring and Execution of Oil and Gas Transactions. Prior to this she was the Divisional Head Power, Infrastructure and Project Finance for United Bank for Africa Plc. In that role she was primarily responsible for developing UBA’s portfolio for Power and Infrastructure Assets and defining the banks local and regional strategy for the Power and Infrastructure sector.
Helen brings forth over 17 years Corporate and Investment Banking experience and has originated, structured and financed several deals.
Prior to UBA, Helen Brume worked was a Vice President and Head of the Financial Institutions Group at Oceanic Capital, (now Ecobank Capital Company Limited, where she was responsible for the origination, structuring and execution of capital market transactions as well as financial and strategic advisory. She successfully advised Oceanic Bank on its strategic global and regional expansion and the divestment of some of its subsidiaries.
Mrs Brume worked at Citibank Nigeria where she was an Assistant Vice President within the Corporate Finance Group. At Citibank she focused primarily on raising and structuring various types of debt financing for corporate clients primarily within the Oil and Gas and Financial Institutions sector.
Prior to Citi, Helen worked at Lehman Brothers for 3 years within the Equity Capital Markets Strategy Group where she was responsible for developing and implementing short and long term business strategy initiatives for an $800mm Equity Sales and Trading Business.
Mrs Brume commenced her career on Wall Street where she worked for Merrill Lynch as a Project Manager and Financial Controller for the Equity Derivative business.
She holds a B.Sc. in Accounting University of Lagos (Second Class Honors, Upper) and an MBA in Finance and Strategic Management from Rutgers Business School, USA and is a Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA)
