Cairn Energy signed an agreement in Mauritania to operate the C7 block, the company has reported. Mauritanian Minister of Petroleum, Mines and Energy Abdesselam Ould Mohamed Saleh signed the agreement with Cairn exploration manager Eric Hathlon, reports Energy Voice.

George Maxwell has been named as Vaalco Energy's new CEO, replacing Cary Bounds. The company have announced Maxwell will help it accomplish its plan to be "one of the leading independent exploration and production companies in West Africa". Continue reading.

Reconnaissance Energy Africa has found oil and gas indicators and shows over three intervals at its first well onshore Namibia. The 6-2 well has led ReconAfrica's board member Dan Jarvie to say "the components processes for a working petroleum system are all present". Continue reading.

Petronas has handed Maersk Drilling a $24 million contract to drill one well off Gabon using a deepwater drillship. The Maersk Viking vessel will drill an ultra-deepwater exploration well in Block F13. Continue reading.

As reported by Africa Oil & Power, ExxonMobil Angola has appointed Melissa Bond as its new Managing Director, representing the first female to hold the position out of the oil majors operating in Angola. 

Lastly, Libya pumped 1.283 million b/d of crude in March, the North African producer revealed to OPEC in the producer group's latest monthly oil market report, according to S&P Global.
