Petroleum Commission, Ghana
The Petroleum Commission is the regulator of Ghana’s upstream oil and gas industry. The Commission was established by an Act of Parliament, Act 821, in July 2011, with the objective to regulate and manage the utilisation of petroleum resources in the upstream petroleum sector and coordinate the sector policies.
The Commission is mandated to promote planned, well executed, sustainable and cost-efficient petroleum activities; monitor and ensure compliance with national policies, laws, regulations and agreements related to petroleum activities.
Also, the Commission in accordance with the Petroleum (Exploration and Production) Act 2016, (Act 919), the Petroleum Commission Act, 2011 (Act 821) and the Petroleum (Fees and Charges) Regulations (L.I 2201), receives applications and issues permits and certificates for specific petroleum activities.
