Senior Advisor – External Affairs and Social Performance Kosmos Energy

Sophie Durham is a Senior Advisor in External Affairs and Social Performance at Kosmos Energy, a US oil and gas exploration and production company focused on the Atlantic Margin. She leads the company’s approach to transparency, stakeholder engagement and social performance in several countries in West Africa and works on corporate-level initiatives such as maintaining Kosmos’ industry leading position on transparency. She has also presented on oil and gas governance at events such as NRGI’s Francophone Africa summer school in Cameroon. Prior to joining Kosmos she worked at London-based advisory firm Critical Resource, which supports mining and oil and gas companies to manage social and political risk. She led client projects in Morocco, Guinea, Liberia, Eritrea and Papua New Guinea on subjects ranging from human rights, to government relations and community engagement, among others. Sophie has a BA in Geography from the University of Cambridge and an MA in African Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London.
