Steve Gilchrist served as a Royal Marines Commando, Platoon Weapons Instructor, specialising in weapons, tactics and modern urban combat and deployed on a wide range of operations over his 10-year career. Stepping into the commercial world Steve further expanded his knowledge of the maritime industry by supporting commercial and offshore vessels on both the East and West coast of Africa, as well as leading with the release of two vessels from captivity in Somali anchorages.
 
Steve is a Castor Vali Director, based in the UK, liaising and coordinating with in-country managers and company lines of development ensuring efficient operational success and tempo. He brings a detailed level of understanding to the intricacies of operating alongside local national security forces in both East and West Africa, and provides the company with the necessary operational level advice and liaison required for successful offshore projects. He is the lead for Castor Vali’s Energy department, with a particular focus on offshore support. Steve has taken CV forward to emerge as the leading security provider to the seismic industry for offshore security support in waters of high risk.
