Alastair’s journey in the Geo-data industry began during his time at the University of Glasgow, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geographic Information and Mapping Sciences. Shortly after, he began working as a land surveyor for two years before his move to Fugro took him to the other side of the world as a Hydrographic Surveyor in Perth, Australia.
Since moving back to the UK in 2010, Alastair continued working with Fugro in a variety of positions both on and offshore. Along with his experience across Europe and Australia, he has travelled the African continent, working in Angola, Nigeria, Congo and Namibia. In 2019, he became Fugro’s Director of Remote Operations for Europe and Africa, making him responsible for all remote services across the regions.
Earlier this year, Alastair took on the added responsibility of Fugro's positioning and construction service line as Director for Positioning and Construction Support for Europe and Africa.
As a member of the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors, Alastair is committed to driving innovation in the field and pushing Fugro to the forefront of remote operations.
