Matthieu Milandri

Head of Upstream Finance Trafigura

Matthieu joined Trafigura in 2019 as Head of Upstream Finance following a seven-year career at Mercuria as its Investments Director, where he specialised on investments in and financings for upstream companies.

Prior to Mercuria, Matthieu spent ten years with BNP Paribas in Frankfurt, Paris, New York, Houston and Geneva working in its Oil and Gas, and Energy and Commodities Groups. During his tenure, Matthieu spent three years in Houston where he was originating and structuring reserves-based lending transactions for North and South American junior upstream companies, before moving to Geneva to work as Relationship Manager covering oil and gas companies in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.

Matthieu graduated from ESSEC Business School in Paris in 1998 with a degree equivalent to an MBA with a specialisation in finance.

Trafigura also owns and operates a number of industrial assets including global multi-metals producer Nyrstar and fuel storage and distribution company Puma Energy; and joint ventures Impala Terminals, a port and logistics provider, and Nala Renewables, a power and renewable energy investment and development platform. With over 1,000 shareholders, Trafigura is owned by its employees and employs over 13,000 people working in 48 countries.
