Philip McDonald MSc is the Regional Director (Africa), for Castor Vali Africa. He sits in the Company’s Regional Headquarters, based in Nairobi Kenya. His role includes the overall management of the business, with a key focus on the Energy sector. Having been based in East Africa for over 8 years, Phil has led a number of projects both on and offshore within the sector, gaining significant exposure throughout key geographies such as; Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, DRC, Mozambique and Tanzania.
Prior to working at Castor Vali, Phil served as a Royal Marines Commando for 12 years. Throughout his tenure, he conducted two operational tours of Afghanistan, one in Iraq and another in Northern Ireland. During his last tour of Afghanistan, he was awarded a Joint Commanders Commendation for his actions during close combat engagements.
Upon leaving the military and joining Castor Vali, he entered into a Master’s Degree programme with London Metropolitan University. Graduating in the field of Security and Risk Management Studies, with a core focus on the Terrorism nexus. He has brought a significant amount of both industry and academic experience to the regional team and helped place it at the forefront of the private security industry in East Africa.
