Prof Kachikwu's contributions extend beyond Nigeria's borders, as evidenced by his role as the President of OPEC in 2016. During his tenure, he effectively represented Nigeria's interests and played a crucial role in shaping the global energy landscape. Moreover, his exceptional leadership as the three-time President of APPO (The Ministerial Council of African Petroleum Ministers) led to significant reforms and revitalization of the organization, enhancing cooperation and collaboration among African nations in the petroleum sector.

Prior to his illustrious career in public service, Prof Kachikwu served as the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and held esteemed positions in ExxonMobil Nigeria, where he contributed to the success and growth of the company.
