Onhym Morocco
The National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM) is the catalyst of hydrocarbon exploration in Morocco. ONHYM was established on 17 August 2005 as a result of the merger between the Bureau of Research and Mining Participations (BRPM) and the National Office for Research and Petroleum Explorations (ONAREP). The office is the sole interlocutor for potential partners. ONHYM has accumulated 90 years of expertise that make it a strong and reliable partner for Oil and Gas Investors in Morocco.
ONHYM’s missions are:
•    To conduct research, exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbon deposits or any other fossil fuel as well as mining deposits or any other mineral substances excluding phosphates
•    To promote any action contributing to the development of exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons and mineral substances, including public-private partnerships (PPPs) that can take place at any stage of the operations
•    To produce documentation and to develop databases both related to the national subsoil but also related to the administrative, financial and legal arrangements in effect in the country. This information needs to be available and free of charge to any interested operator. This information will also be sufficiently rich, reliable and accessible
•    To negotiate terms and conditions of various associations, co-operation or partnership agreements with all types of partners in accordance with the legal provisions in effect
This enthusiasm for exploration in Morocco has also been boosted by the attractive new Hydrocarbons Code enacted in 2000. As exploration techniques advance and new ideas and concepts are developed, ONHYM and its partners believe that Morocco has a very promising hydrocarbon potential to unlock.
