Chief Gas Regulatory Officer, African Natural Resources Centre (ANRC)


Mr. Charles Nyirahuku currently works at the Africa Natural Resource Management and Investment Center within the African Development Bank. The Center supports regional member countries derive optimal outcomes from sustainable exploitation their natural wealth. As the Chief Gas Officer, Charles’ works with countries to strengthen institutional capacity and skills in designing robust frameworks for natural gas management and governance, through advisory services, technical assistance and advocacy.

He has over 20-year experience in policy advisory, business development, strategy design and catalyzing private investments in the petroleum, bioenergy, and infrastructure projects. Prior to joining the African Development Bank, Charles worked in the public sector, as a coordinator of mega Public-Private Partnerships gas-to-power and peat- to power projects. Charles is a holder of a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Lubumbashi, in Democratic Republic of Congo, a Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Trinidad and Tobago, and an Executive Degree in Climate Change and Sustainability from the University of Cambridge.
